About

UNITED NATIONS OFFICE ON DRUGS AND CRIME

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was created in 1997 to better address the trafficking and abuse of illicit substances across international domains, as well as to enhance coordination against criminal related activities. Comprised of 193 member states, the UNODC pursues international action under 3 unique foundations: research and the spreading of knowledge, assisting local governments against related issues, and supporting the implementation of legislation and international treaties on drugs, crime, and terrorism. This committee deliberates a variety of topics, sets quotas, and comes to agreements on methods to solve the world’s most dangerous and pressing issues regarding the safety of global citizens. Many of the such issues have no physical boundaries and have proven to be widely controversial in their solutions, thus the UNODC will only grow more crucial as it faces issues most pertinent to the prosperity of humanity.
